Joep Bor is a professor at the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts, Leiden University. He was the founder of the Rotterdam World Music Department, and the artistic advisor of the Concertgebouw for the Amsterdam India Festival. In addition to The Voice of the Sarangi and The Raga Guide (with four CDs), Bor has written and edited several other books and many articles. At present he is working with Tiziana Leucci on The Bayadères: Five Devadasis in Europe, 1838-1839.
